The versatile “liquid soil” is placed as a flowable liquid, yet hardens and rapidly develops excellent load-bearing properties with no compaction necessary. It is a backfill alternative that does not need to be compacted. Flowable fill can be especially useful for filling utility trenches and back-filling retaining walls. We have seen an increased use of flowable fill in other void-filling applications such as abandoned tanks, basements, pipes, sewers, and other underground structures. Flowable fill is a combination of fine aggregates, water, and a small amount of cement. The fill is quite versatile and can be either pumped or poured directly from the truck.

Colored concrete pavements with patterned-stamped, exposed aggregate or even simple broomed finishes are a beautiful and affordable alternative.
